Dictate instead of type
Dictate into any text box with a microphone, or record the whole consult and sort it into the exam boxes.
Where to find it: Any text box with a microphone
Steps
- Click the microphone next to a text box and speak.
- To record a whole consult, use Exam narrative on the Consult tab. Then “Sort into fields” copies findings into the exam boxes, and you check and confirm each one before it is saved.
- On a free trial, dictation uses your browser's own speech recognition. A hint next to the microphone says so.
- On a paid plan, and for founding members, dictation runs through enhanced transcription, with speaker labels and reliable long sessions.
- The dashboard shows this month's time against your plan's allowance. Once it is used up, dictation continues with the browser's own speech recognition until the first of the month.
- To switch dictation off for the whole practice, use AI Controls under Account & Settings → AI. The microphones are then greyed out.
Good to know
Consent: MyDosha does not ask the patient for consent to record a consultation in the room, so arrange that yourself. Your own consent clauses can carry it at intake. The audio is not stored, only the text. With dictation off, the browser's speech recognition is not used either, because it would send the audio to the browser's vendor. A microphone can stay grey just after signing in until the setting has loaded; if it stays grey, reload the page.
